The OTEC Power Module® is a compact, modular power plant that harnesses the ocean’s natural temperature gradient to generate clean, uninterrupted electricity. Each module is capable of producing 500 kW of clean baseload power 24/7, all year round.

Compact and modular by design, the OTEC Power Module® is a game-changer for offshore operations. From powering remote offshore assets to providing energy for ports, data centres, and island municipalities, the technology offers a low-carbon baseload solution for conventional fossil fuel and renewable technologies.

OTEC Power Module Onshore Demonstration

Unlike previous OTEC projects, which remained largely research-based, this demonstration is designed to showcase OTEC’s real-world scalability and serve as a blueprint for future commercial deployment. With its modular design and efficiency-driven approach, the OTEC Power Module® is set to be replicable and cost-effective, making it a viable solution for over 100 tropical and subtropical regions where clean energy is needed.

The OTEC Power Module® demonstration will be deployed onshore, drawing from existing deep seawater intake sites to tap into the temperature difference between warm surface water and cold deep ocean water. This natural gradient will drive an Organic Rankine Cycle (ORC) system with next-generation components, generating up to 500 kW of clean baseload power, day and night, all year round.
